We’re married! The wedding was amazing - here are some highlights from the day:
- The professional photos.
- The beautiful weather! We were so lucky, glorious sunshine, but not baking hot.
- The shoes, and the Henley dress, everybody looked absolutely amazing.
- The overly laid-back registrars. The ceremony was due to being at 4pm, but started at 4.20 because the registrars we so slow - to the point where the best man (Paul) stormed in and demanded the pre-ceremony interviews were done after the ceremony because the guests were waiting. Hilarious (with hindsight).
- A beautiful ceremony. Lydia looked amazing, Ash played her in down the aisle with style, Esther sang a beautiful song and Nicky kept the guests entertained superbly during the signing of the register.
- Dinner, famous engineering formulae for the table names, and the actually equations on the tables. Lydia and I have loved looking at the photos of total confusion in the marquee as everyone tried to sit down. And a very tasty hog roast – tables were asking for seconds and thirds, and the caterers were happy to oblige.
- The speeches:
Roger (Father of the bride):
“I have always known Lydia is beautiful but I have never seen her look quite so beautiful and so radiant as she does today as a bride.”
“I bet you didn’t know Lydia is a very good Shot Putter! Beauty, brains and brawn!”
“I later learnt that one of the comments Tim had made to Lydia was that he had not realized her school friends would have such broad London accents.” (Oh the shame)

Tim:
“The ushers, the whips of the wedding. If you haven’t been given a good telling off yet, and you’re into that kind of thing, then just hang around near these three this evening doing mildly inappropriate things”
“Lydia, I promise to buy you lots of pick n mix.”
“You have the smile of an angel, and the patience of a saint. I look forward to our adventures in Africa, and with a little luck to being the father of your children soon after we return...” (Cue tears)
Paul (Best man):
With reference to the ‘little finger incident’ when Ben and I were young: “One time he didn’t cut the tape. Instead, using the kitchen scissors, he swiped and took off my little finger. There was blood everywhere. Fortunately I was young enough for it to grow back” ('Quoting' Ben)
“For a man like Tim to find his match, he had to find an exceptionally lovely lady, who compliments his intelligence to a tee, and I think we can all agree that he did. In Lydia, he has found ‘the one’. So caring, capable and bright. And someone who makes up so well where Tim lacks- mainly in the ‘good looks’ department”

- After dinner – the band! Eug, Alex and Five Miles (http://www.fivemilesfromwoodstock.com), rocked the night away. They were truly legendary. If you need a great band who can keep a dance floor jumping all night then look no further.
- And finally the catching of the bouquet – by the gorgeous Becky. Best of luck bro :o)
